Lindale ISD adopts lower tax rate
August 26, 2026
Lindale — The Lindale ISD Board of Trustees adopted a total tax rate of $0.8811 during a special-called meeting on Monday, Aug. 24. The 2026–2027 tax rate represents a reduction of 5.68 cents from last year’s total tax rate.
Lindale ISD has reduced its total tax rate by 28.59 cents over the past six years. The district continues to lower the tax rate while providing the programs, resources, and services necessary to meet the needs of its students.
“I want to commend the Lindale ISD Board of Trustees and our chief financial officer for their careful management of the district’s budgets and tax rates,” Superintendent Stan Surratt said. “The Lindale community should be very proud of this tax rate cut. Not many communities continue to see tax rate decreases like this.”
Through responsible fiscal stewardship and long-term financial planning, the Lindale ISD Board of Trustees was able to reduce the tax rate while adopting a balanced budget, despite receiving no increase in funding from the State of Texas.
“I am appreciative of how the LISD Board of Trustees is supporting teachers and all staff through an increase in pay and contributing more towards employee health insurance premiums, while also being able to reduce the total tax rate for the Lindale ISD community,” Chief Financial Officer Michelle Carver said.
The newly adopted tax rate reflects the district’s continued commitment to responsibly managing taxpayer dollars while maintaining high-quality educational opportunities for Lindale ISD students.
