Lindale—Fireworks are believed to have caused a house fire in the Lindale area during Fourth of July celebrations.

Firefighters were dispatched at 9:54 p.m. on July 4 to a residential structure fire on County Road 431. Crews arrived within minutes to find heavy fire coming through the roof of the home.

Firefighters launched an interior attack to stop the spread of the fire while additional personnel and water supply resources were requested.

The Lindale Fire Department responded with two engines, two brush trucks and a rescue unit. Firefighters also received mutual aid assistance from Smith County Emergency Services District No. 2, which sent multiple engines, tenders, brush units and a battalion chief.

The fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported.

In addition to the structure fire, the Lindale Fire Department responded to five grass fires throughout the Fourth of July holiday, all of which are believed to have been started by fireworks.

Fire officials urge residents to use caution with fireworks as holiday celebrations continue, noting that fireworks can quickly ignite fires, cause property damage and injuries, and place first responders at risk. They recommend keeping a water source readily available whenever fireworks are being used.
