Tyler—A long-awaited dream came to life Thursday evening as Breckenridge Village community member Bubba unveiled “Bubba’s Art Gallery” during the Breckenridge Village Art Showcase hosted by Southside Bank.

The open house, held Aug. 21 at Gallery 113 inside the Southside Bank Downtown Branch, drew a large crowd of artists, families, and community supporters.

Breckenridge Village, a Tyler-based residential community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, places a strong emphasis on creative expression. The annual gallery highlights the talents of its members across a variety of artistic mediums.

“I started drawing in 1986, and ever since then, I’ve dreamed of having my own art gallery,” Bubba said. The showcase gave him and fellow artists the opportunity to share their stories, connect with guests, and present their work to the public.

Organizers described the event as a success.
“We had an incredible open house, a packed space full of artists, family, friends, and our local community,” said Cassi Velasco, vice president of public relations at Breckenridge Village. “We are so grateful to Southside Bank for hosting our gallery for the third year, and especially for helping make Bubba’s dream come true. He was beaming all night.”

Attendees left with smiles and keepsake postcards of Bubba’s artwork. The gallery will remain open to visitors through Sept. 5.
