Shelter from cold weather available

Lindale—A powerful cold front is sweeping across Texas, driving the temperatures down to single digits in some areas. Cold weather advisories and warnings have been issued across the state.  

Rain and snow are also anticipated, and there may be power outages caused by the cold.   

Warming stations across Smith County are available to anyone needing warmth and shelter.  

A list of warming stations is as follows: 

Arp: 

Arp Volunteer Fire Department at 107 W Longview St, Arp, TX, 75750 

Palestine: 

Palestine City Hall at 504 N Queen St, Palestine, TX, 75801. 

Tyler: 

Red Springs Volunteer Fire Department at 16759 FM 14, Tyler, TX, 75706 

Grace Community Church- Old Jacksonville Campus at 3315 Old Jacksonville Hwy, Tyler, TX, 75701. This location has 40 cots provided by the Tyler Fire Department. They are unable to accommodate pets. Please contact Stephen Wickliffe at 903-216-9651 for more information.

Green Acre Baptist Church at 1607 Troup Hwy, Tyler, TX, United States, Texas 

Bethel Baptist Church at 13108 State Highway 64 East, Tyler, TX 75708. This facility will have 50 cots open, provided by the Lindale Fire Department. 

Shiloh Road Church of Christ at 1801 Shiloh Road, Tyler, TX, 75703. The gym behind that church is open for shelter.  

The Kingdom Church at 1818 N Confederate Av, Tyler, TX. This location is unable to accommodate pets. Please contact Darrius Harris at 903-636-3275 with any questions. 

Dayspring Methodist Church at 310 W Cumberland Rd, Tyler, TX, 75703. This location has 100 available spaces and is open overnight. Pets are welcome if they are in a portable carrier. Please contact Rusty McKee at 832-967-9899 to let him know you are coming.   

St. Louis Baptist Church at 4000 Frankston Hwy, Tyler, TX. This location is open until midnight. They are unable to accommodate pets. Please contact Pastor Caraway at 903- 561-2167 for more details.  

The Salvation Army Tyler at 633 N Broadway Ave, Tyler, TX. This location is open 24/7. 

Highway 80 Rescue Mission at 601 E. Valentine Street, Tyler, TX, 75702.
