Weekly Police Brief - Week Ending 01/03/2025
ACCIDENT-Call came in as a hit and run accident where a vehicle went off the road striking a mailbox and a fire hydrant. The caller advised that the vehicle left heading towards Hwy 69. Officers checked the area but failed to locate the vehicle. About an hour later, the original caller called back stating that the vehicle was located at the end of the street behind a house. Officers responded and located the vehicle.
RECOVER MISSING PERSON, FLOCK HIT-Officers received a hit for a missing person reported from Wood County traveling SB on Hwy 69. Officers located the vehicle in the Lowes parking lot and contacted the individual and spouse – everything was okay and removed from the list of missing persons.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS, STARBUCKS-Dispatch received a call from Starbucks management regarding an individual that has been there all day. Management advised that she received a complaint stating that the male was exposing himself to young girls and video and photographing them. Management wants him warned away. Officers contacted the individual, who was reading a book and utilizing Starbucks internet- He was issued a CT at the request of Starbucks.
CIVIL MATTER-RP came into the PD lobby requesting to speak with officers about her husband accessing her social media accounts. While talking with RP, her husband came into the PD also explaining that he looked at her Facebook account, which was opened already to confirm she was cheating on him. Officers advised that the situation is a civil issue and not criminal.
SUSP PERSON-RP called in and advised that a group of teenage boys are going around playing dingdong ditch and kicking the doors of the home. Boy were seen on cameras riding around in a red golf cart. Officers contacted the owners of the golf cart and advised parents of the situation. Parents advised them they would handle it. Officers contacted RP who only wants the situation to stop and documented.
Civil-RP called stating he and his probably now ex-girlfriend got into it, and she left with his phone and he wants his phone back. Contact was made with the ex-girlfriend, and she returned the phone.
Missing Person-RP stated that his wife, who is starting to have cognitive issues, went walking from the house and he can’t find her. Subject located and returned to her husband.
Theft – Walmart-Officers were dispatched to WM on a prior theft that occurred the night before when they stumbled on a theft that just occurred. When they went to deal with the subject, he got into a struggle with officers before running away. Subject was caught in the Lowes lot and arrested for theft and evading.
Walmart – DWI-While doing the theft, subj was reported to us that was having difficulty walking and now getting into the vehicle. Subj denied drinking anything but had multiple alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. SFSTs were done and subj did poorly. Subj arrested for DWI.
Warrant Service-Traffic stop was made, and the driver of the vehicle was shown to have two warrants out of two different counties for PCS and POM. Subj arrested without incident.
